Leicester Shootfighters Hosts UK Squad Training
November 2015 saw the UK squad at Leicester Shootfighters in preparation for the IMMAF European Open Championships being held in Birmingham.
The UK’s top amateur MMA athletes were coached throughout the day by brothers John and Tommy Maguire, UFC and The Ultimate fighter veterans respectively. Two of the country’s top professional fighters and renowned experts in grappling for MMA the pair lead the group through wrestling drills and sparring before some serious straight talking about what it takes to win in the cage and what is expected of the fighters.
We wish the team and coaches all the best for their upcoming tournament.

Leicester Shootfighters Student of the Month October 2015: Chris
Recently returning to the mats at Shootfighters Chris has thrown himself in to training with a drive that has seen him reach and then surpass his previous level in a very short time.
But even when working out hard there is one thing always constant, the smile on Chris’ face. Something that has been noticed and commented on several times by other members.
Stepping up to compete in the recent Leicester NoGi Open Chris won his first bout by submission and I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone made happier by a win in one of our tournaments!
In recognition of his dedication to training grappling and positive upbeat attitude we are very proud to make Chris our October 2015 Student of the Month.

Leicester Shootfighters Student of the Month September 2015: David
First in the gym on his training days David always works up a good sweat even before the class begins.
Putting in the hard work on his striking has seen him make great leaps in both his boxing and kickboxing leading to his first bout earlier this year.
Always looking to learn and grow he can often be found trying out new combos on the bag, asking coaches for advice and grabbing other members to work out with.
In recognition of his passion for the striking arts and strong work ethic that makes him an example for other members we are very proud to make David our September 2015 Student of the Month.

Ultra White Collar Boxing is a unique opportunity for people with no boxing background to experience the wonderful world of boxing, in a safe and enjoyable environment. And it’s all for charity too! UWCB have raised over two million pounds for Cancer Research UK.
