First Round Submission Wins for Leicester Shootfighters at Fight UK 2

Kieren Lewin celebrates his win

On November 6th Leicester Shootfighters descended on the Hermitage Leisure Centre in Whitwick for a night of MMA at Fight UK 2.

Liam Corrigan was scheduled to appear first but unfortunately his opponent failed to show which was a huge disappointed to the fighter and his supporters.

With the change in line up it was down to Kieren Lewin to start the night off for the team and he did it in decisive fashion with a quick takedown, ground and pound from mount and a win by first round armbar submission against the tough David Gillan.

In the co main event of the night Ranjeet Baria took on 14 year Muay Thai veteran and former British title contender Paul Jones. The out of town opposition had brought a coach of fans with him which meant he came out to a huge reception. After a slow and wary start Ranj started looking for the takedown and once he got it to the ground progressed to mount striking until the last moments then securing an armbar submission to get the tap at 4:59, only one second left in the round!

Two fights, two first round wins by armbar submission!

Well done to both fighters for their performances, we are very proud of you.

And thank you to everyone on the team who have been there to help out on the day in preparation for these bouts.
