The Ultimate Fighter Seminar: Ross Pearson and Andre Winner at Leicester MMA Academy

Leicester Mixed Martial Arts Academy would like to thank Ross Pearson and Andre Winner for the fantastic seminar they taught at the gym.

Leicester MMA Academy was packed with a sold out crowd for this highly anticipated seminar and the two Ultimate Fighter finalists didn’t disappoint.

After a brief introduction to both fighters and their careers the days training commenced with the warm up, Ross kicking off by taking the class through a series of grappling drills then handing over to Andre for a fighter’s MMA fitness circuit.

In the technical portion of the seminar Andre took the lead showing elements used in his fights which included boxing footwork, head movement, the body jab, overhand right, left hook and finished off with the wrestling switch, a move he’d worked on in The Ultimate Fighter house. After a short break Ross took over the coaching with a move to the clinch position where he covered entering in to the Muay Thai clinch, knee strikes, the underhook, takedowns and takedowns in to submissions. This portion ended with a guest spot requested by Andre, his coach Nathan Leverton teaching get ups back to the feet from the bottom.

A Q&A followed which covered subjects such as dealing with prefight nerves, the support needed to make it as a professional fighter, their experiences on the TV show and what it was like to fight a friend and training partner in the finale.

The day ended with photos, signings and a raffle featuring items donated by the fighters and gym including signed gloves, DVDs and Andre’s UFC 105 Tokyo 5 walkout T-shirt!
